Dear Buyer,
First off let me thank you today for your interest in our home. It has been such a wonderful home to us, we hope that you will experience the same love, laughter and overall happiness here that we have over the last 18 years.
When we first moved here in 1993 with our young family this house was in dire need of a love. The previous owners had smothered every surface of every wall with wallpaper. They covered the beautiful original hardwoods with carpet. In fact the only wall separating the old kitchen from the other room was a thin piece of paneling. The only part of the house that did not have any original hardwood is the current dining area and hallway, but anything is better than old blue carpeting with red kool-aid stains on it, right?
Over the years we have invested a lot of care and attention into this home. One of the very first things we did was remove the old cement shower unit from the master bath to put in something much brighter and easier to clean. In 1997 Allgood installed windows, and we replaced all the exterior wood siding with vinyl. The front porch was added in 2002. We added a wall to close in the existing living room area to give more definition to the existing rooms. In 2005 we completely remodeled the kitchen, and this year we replaced the oil furnace with a new heat pump.
Yes, there are so many memories on Allister Rd. The neighborhood is so wonderful. The neighbors are too. Every Christmas the neighbor to the left would bring us all kinds of baked goodies. It wasn’t until our kids moved out of the house, that we finally got to have some, they are delicious. There has never been an issue with crime in or around our home. The only reason we have a security system is because our nephew owns his own business, so we got a good deal.
Our children now 22 and 30 used to love riding their bikes around the block. They even got to go sledding a time or two on the rare occasion it actually snowed in Durham. There is hardly any traffic on these streets. In fact we have hilarious video footage of ourselves trying to rollerblade on Christmas day in 1995 in the middle of the road. If you enjoy biking it’s a nice ride through Grove Park and back, we’ve even ridden our bikes as far as Stallings Rd without any issue.
We will definitely miss our home on Allister Rd. We are excited that you are the person interested in purchasing it. We wish you many warm years of joy in this home as you celebrate life with the people you love the most.
Sincerely,
The Cone Family
